Mission Location: North of Tribune, KS
Description:
CAMA and CAMC deployed on a slow moving supercell north of Tribune, KS. Initially, the supercell was moving slowly to the northwest. By the time CAMA and CAMC deployed, the storm was moving slowly to the northeast. The storm had a history of producing weak, short-lived tornadoes. CAMA deployed twice on hwy 27 north of Tribune. During the first deployment, two short-lived tornadoes were captured looking to the southwest. Both were very transient, lasting for approximately a minute. Thereafter, CAMA moved farther on hwy 27 and collocated with DOW5. At this site, another short-lived tornado was captured at relatively close range as it moved eastward toward CAMA and DOW5. The time of this deployment was approximately from 23:46 – 23:55 UTC.
CAMC collocated with MWR and captured the partial evolution of one tornado and the complete evolution of a second one that formed at about 23:18 UTC. The tornadoes were observed at about 355 degrees azimuth from CAMC/MWR. MWR also captured the complete evolution of the second tornado. These are the same two tornadoes observed by CAMA during their first deployment. CAMC was located west of Tribune and just north of hwy 96.
HD video and DSLR imagery were collected by CAMA and CAMC.
